    Note: the above daily schedule is a representation only and may vary from classroom to classroom due to students’ age differences and needs.

    The school day is divided into blocks of time to accommodate for:

     

    Free Play
    - a morning choice of interest to the child which develops personal responsibility (who to play with, and what to play with) and encourages social development.

     

    Morning Circle
    - an informative pre-view of the day ahead including theme related readings, calendar exploration and letter introduction

     

    Language Workshop
    - encourages fine motor skills by sharing children’s life-experiences on paper through drawings, writing and re-telling
    - involves various word games and pictionary activities to enhance vocabulary knowledge and develop communication skills

     

    Recess
    - essential to social development and enables regular physical activity, over-all motor coordination and body awareness while acquiring physical confidence

     

    Centers
    - rotational small-group gatherings related to themes through math, art, language studies and social sciences motivating children to explore, discover and solidify their understanding of the themes and concepts currently studied

     

    Music and Movement / Story Time
    - encourages children to sing, dance and express themselves in a whole class environment as well as learn new songs, rhymes and poems through re-enactment and story telling

     

    Math / Science Exploration
    - a hands–on approach to number review, concept development and science experiments through individual discovery and whole group discussions

     

    Art
    - creative use of a variety of materials to make discoveries about textures, colors, shapes and patterns while developing fine motor skills and encouraging creativity and imagination

     

    Afternoon Activities
    - emphasizes fun through a variety of activities: puppet house theater, role playing, art projects, cooking, music, science, dance, judo and ceramics
